Find It Virginia
Provided by the Library of Virginia. It contains up to 20 years of newspaper and magazine articles (many with full text) which can be used as reference material for research papers and general knowledge. Many articles are accompanied by charts, maps, diagrams, and illustrations which may be downloaded and used in research reports. Be sure to try the SIRS links at the bottom of the page as well as ELibrary and Infotrac sources. Must provide library card number to access. (See "Online Databases" for more info.)

KidsCommonwealth
Commonwealth of Virginia site. Learn interesting things about Virginia and Virginians. Beware that some linked sites are pop-up prone.

Fact Monster
Commercial site maintained by Information Please Almanac. Much useful general information, but beware of numerous pop-ups!

PBS Kids
Public Broadcasting site focused mainly on younger children. Provides interesting activities.

America's Library
Library of Congress kids website. interesting facts about America and Americans.

Carol Hurst's Children's Literature
Commercial site that has useful reviews of children's books and also learning activities.

Windows to the Universe
Maintained by a non-profit consortium of over 100 universities and provides information, activities and more on the Earth, solar system, and the universe.

U.S. Environmental protection Agency
Official kids site of the EPA. Very good information regarding environmental issues, health, and conservation. Contains some interesting activities and links to other sources.

National Geographic - Kids
National Geographic kids site. Much useful information about geography and the world we live in. Xpeditions section offers activities to use geography to complete a variety of projects. Homework help and lesson plans also available.

Defenders of Wildlife
Special interest group Defenders of Wildlife site contains detailed information on endangered species and other environmental information.

Crayola
Commercial site contains many useful activities usually involving coloring -- of course.

KidZone - National Wildlife Federation
Special interest group NWF provides wildlife and environmental information and activities geared to specific age levels.
