Passero furnishes an overview of French country domestic architecture and interiors. She begins with a review of the hallmarks that make up French country style, such as timbered ceilings, stone floors, and the use of floral fabrics, and then gives practical advice on how to incorporate the look into one's own home with the use of appropriate furniture or decorative accessories. From there, color photographs depict rooms of contemporary American homes for which she describes the elements that have been employed to resemble a typical French country home.
