Tom Green County Library welcomes gifts of money and materials, consistent with its policies including its Collection Development Policy. Unless otherwise specified in writing, all gifts are considered unconditional and unrestricted. Any conditional or restricted gifts must be accepted by the Tom Green County Commissioner’s Court or conform to guidelines established by the Court.
I. Books and Other Materials
The library will accept donations of books, periodicals, audio-visual, computer, and other materials in good condition. Refer to the Donation of Materials Policy for details.
II. Art
Gifts of art, furnishings, and other decorative objects may be accepted for use in the library, if such gifts are compatible with the library’s needs and facilities. The acceptance of a gift does not imply that the object will be retained by or displayed at the library.
III. Monetary Contributions
The library is pleased to receive monetary contributions which will be used to further the purposes of the library. All donations will be acknowledged and the specific desires of donors will be honored. Materials purchased with memorial or honorary gifts will contain a gift plate naming the donor and the honoree, and acknowledgements will be sent to the honoree or family of the deceased.
IV. Annuities, Securities and Bequests
The library will accept gifts of securities and annuities, including transfers directly from brokers or other agents. The library also welcomes charitable bequests, and will recognize the donor at the time that plans for the bequest are made.
