About Our Library

The Trimble County Public Library is located in Bedford, Kentucky, the fiscal seat of Trimble County. This farming community, formed in 1836, is bordered on the north and west by the Ohio River, Oldham County on the south, Henry County and Carroll County on the east. The Milton-Madison Bridge built in Milton, KY, 15 miles north of Bedford provides one of the access points across the Ohio River to Indiana.

The library is centrally located in Bedford, on the main street beside the county’s courthouse. The library provides the local population of almost 8000, with broadband internet on nine public computers, two laptops and wireless access. A continually updated collection of books, audios, DVDs, and interlibrary loan service is available to supply the patrons’ reading and viewing needs. Kentucky’s Department of Libraries and Archives supplements the local library’s collections with a great variety of services and materials.

The library building was built in 1973 and added on to in 1976. It is total of 4000 square feet. The meeting room can be used by non-profit community groups and for library programs. The library staff arranges programs for all ages and interests that keep the library active year around. Several preschool story times are scheduled for 2-5 year olds during the school year. Summer Reading Program is a series of workshops and fun programs that encourages children to read throughout the summer months. Book Talk is a monthly adult book discussion program. Seasonal craft and learning workshops fill out the roster of library activities.
