Computer Use and Internet Policy:
The Trinity County Library strives to provide the widest variety of services to a diverse population as well as various age groups. The Library offers free Internet service as an extension of its reference service by providing access to resources beyond the scope of our local collection. The Library cannot guarantee the completeness, currency or accuracy of information found at any website. However, the staff is prepared to offer guiding materials and tutoring in the use of the Internet as a research tool. Tutoring and individual assistance with the computers and their programs are available at any time or by making an appointment with the reference staff.
The Trinity County Library does not filter its computers. Because of the volatile nature of the Internet, the Library staff recommends that parents be actively involved in their childrens use of the Internet. Library policy prohibits access to a public computers operating system, DOS and Windows files, the use of personal software, downloading programs or executable files, FTP, listservs and chatrooms, and the use of any computer by more than 2 people at a time except for scheduled classes or tutorials. Violations of this policy will result in suspension of Internet access privileges in the library. A revised Internet Policy was approved by the Trinity County Board of Supervisors on April 6, 2004.
