  • HISTORY OF THE FRIENDS OF WEST FELICIANA PARISH LIBRARY
Friends of the Library formed in 1996 to support library programs and services. They have made many contributions to the attractiveness and warmth of the present library: computer equipment and furniture; rugs, mobile shelving, and books for the children's area; comfortable folding chairs for programs; refreshments for events; special supplies and hospitality items. They are deeply appreciated by library staff.

The Jordan Truitt Memorial Garden designed and installed by the Friends has become a peaceful and inviting spot to stroll, read, and relax with its plantings, intimate atmosphere, and wrought iron fence and gate. The Garden is included in the April Spring Stroll of local gardens. Friends interested in fine gardening keep it fresh and growing, as well as maintaining several large pots of flowering plants.

Fund-raising events the Friends hold each year include: a huge Books Sale each 1st week-end in November, a holiday "Tour of Homes" during Christmas in the Country week-end, and A Celebration of Writers and Readers on the 4th Saturday of February. All proceeds go to the support of the Library.
The Friends group boasts over 100 members, and they welcome new people to their projects, meetings, and Annual Christmas Party.
