Most library branches are currently open with adjusted hours and services.  Additional cleaning measures are being taken to increase customer and staff safety. In compliance with Executive Order 147, face coverings are required for all staff and teen and adult customers inside any library location. The current hours are:

Main Library: Mon-Tues 10:00 am - 7:00 pm, Wed-Sat 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Elm City Library: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Mon-Fri
Lucama Library: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Mon and Thu
Black Creek Library: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Tue and Wed
Stantonsburg: 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm Mon and Thu
East Library: Temporarily closed

 

We will continue to offer the option of curbside pickup. You can request materials online or by phone. 
 

The Main Library bookdrop can accept returns on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays.  Materials will be isolated for 72 hours before being reshelved or checked out. Items will not be checked in for three days after return to allow for the quarantine period. Overdue fines will not be charged.  Please contact other branches for more information about when returns are accepted at those locations.

Donations are currently unable to be accepted at all library locations.

Curbside Pickup instructions:

 

  • Place holds via the online catalog or call your preferred location.
     
  • Wait for notification that your items are ready.
     
  • Bring your library card number or photo ID to confirm identity.
     
  • Come to the library and park in a designated space. 
     
  • Call the library when you arrive.  Staff will bring your items to your car.


Wireless printing and Interlibrary Loan services are currently unavailable.

eBooks are available via CloudLibrary, NCKids, and Tumblebooks.  eAudiobooks are available via RBDigital and Tumblebooks.

Many reference resources including test prep, language learning, and educational videos are available through NCLive.

Kids can call Dial-a-story at (252) 265-5570 (English) or (252) 265-8433 (En Español) to hear a story read aloud.
