How Do I?

It’s easy to get frustrated when you have a big project for a class due. There are times when the librarians will assist students and teachers in research projects by bringing together a list of electronic and print resources on a given topic. Pathfinders are designed to be a starting point for serious research and a way of grounding yourself in the core aspects of a topic. Please feel free to make suggestions of books or electronic materials you think should be on a pathfinder.

General Help Pathfinders
Citation/Notecard Generator
We know that figuring out how to best cite your sources can be confusing. The Upper School subscribes to a wonderful online service, Noodletools, that will help walk you step by step through your citations and format them perfectly. You can set up projects, create research notecards, and do annotated bibliographies with much greater ease.

Sample Citations in Different Styles
Sometimes to really do your citations, you need to see examples in front of you. These links to the electronic version of the Diana Hacker book you know and love will prove helpful.

Notetaking
Some of you are so lost when it comes to notetaking for a research paper. Use our examples and pointers to have those notes truly help you. The sample Word and PowerPoint files we use in our library classes are located here for download.
