The Ninety Six Branch Library was housed in a small building where the Ninety Six Visitors Center is now located before moving to its present site in 1985. The formal dedication ceremony was held on April 14, 1985.

The Ninety Six Branch Manager is Shannon Rickert.  The Ninety Six Branch Library has computers, photocopier/printers and Wi-Fi.

Grades: Birth - 5th Grade. Engage your children in reading with storytimes, crafts, and more! 

Early Reader Programs: Encourage reading from an early age by signing your baby or toddler up for an early reading program! Studies have shown that early intervention by reading to your young child can help them succeeed better in school and life. We offer the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library programs. You can sign your children up for both or just one.

2022 Summer Reading
June 3rd - July 15th

Early Readers

  • Birth - Rising 1st Grade

  • Read 10 Picture books alone or read to by an adult.

  • Complete the program to receive a Summer Reading Bag (while supplies last) and a chance to win a Summer Reading Prize at the End of Summer Prize Drawing.

  • Continue logging books after you meet the requirement to become a Star Reader! The top three Star Readers will receive a Star Reader Shirt!

  • Books must be logged in to READcquared by July 15th at 11:59 PM

Elementary

  • Rising 2nd - Rising 5th Graders

  • Read 4 Chapter books. You may substitute one chapter book for a graphic novel.

  • Complete the program to receive a Summer Reading Bag (while supplies last) and a chance to win a Summer Reading Prize at the End of Summer Prize Drawing.

  • Continue logging books after you meet the requirement to become a Star Reader! The top three Star Readers will receive a Star Reader Shirt!

Children's Scavenger Hunt  

Ocean Animal Hunt

Friday, June 3 - Friday, July 15

Come in all ye Pirates to the 96 Branch Library and take your chances under the Ocean and hunt for hiding animals.  When you are done you may pick a candy prize out of the treasure chest.

Toddler Tales and B-Boppin Music  

Toddler Tales:

Come join Ms. Shannon for some story time fun.  We will be using the flannel board to tell some different rhymes as well as read 3 or 4 stories.  This program is for children birth to age 4.   

B-Boppin Music: Come join Ms. Shannon for some story fun, singing and dancing. This program is for children birth to age 4.

Please bring a blanket or something for your family to sit on. We are going to rock the neighborhood and have some singing and dancing fun.

Children's Creation Craft Day  

Come on in to the Ninety Six Branch Library and grab one of our children's take-home-crafts while supplies last and build something amazing. Birth - 5th grade.

Paper Plate Jellyfish Craft

Check in with Ms. Shannon and grab your kit to make a fishy wind sock to hang in your window at home or on your porch this summer.

Under the Sea with Goldfish

Tuesday, July 5 - Friday, July 8

Grab your paper plate and paint, use markers, or color it blue. Take some colored goldfish and glue them all over the ocean. Glue some green yarn as (seaweed) onto the bottom of your ocean. Add whatever else you would like to make it your own ocean adventure.   

 

Grades: 6th - 12th. Hang out at the Library and join us for fun games and activites. Check out the Young Adult section for books, audiobooks, and more.

Summer Picture Hunt  

Friday, June 3 - Friday, July 15

Let's do a Summer Picture Hunt. Whether you take the pic yourself or have someone take it for you, try to see if you can get 15 pictures before the program ends. Email the pictures to Ms. Shannon at summerpicturehunt@greenwoodcountylibrary.org

You can send in as you take them or after you have several. Please check with Ms. Shannon if you have any questions. Your name will get put in a drawing for the chance to win 1 of 3 prizes once you complete all 15 pictures. You must be in the pictures for them to count.

Join Ms. Shannon at the 96 Branch Library and get your craft on. We will be making an Ocean themed Wreath. Supplies are limited so please sign up at the 96 Library starting on May 30. This will be limited to 14 people. I will keep a short waiting list just in case.

Diamond Painting

Supplies are limited so please sign up at the 96 Library starting on June 27. This will be limited to 28 people. I will keep a short waiting list just in case.
