Welcome to Forget-Me-Not, AL, a quaint little town that has a tendency to help individuals who have lost their way. Juliet Nightingale is lost in more ways than one. Running from recent trauma (a lightning strike that killed her beloved grandfather and left her with memory loss), she is truly a wandering soul. When her car breaks down in Forget-Me-Not, Juliet has no choice but to stick around a while. It turns out that the town might be able to give her what she's been searching for—access to her lost memories, a purpose, healing, and an unexpected love. In Forget-Me-Not, she meets local library worker Tallulah Byrd Mayfield, a recently divorced mother of two small children, whose life is not turning out as she dreamed it would. She and Juliet form a strong friendship and discover that there is a certain kind of magic in learning from mistakes and embracing future possibilities, as the novel shows that nothing can be truly lost if one is open to finding happiness and hope again. VERDICT Webber's (A Certain Kind of Starlight) latest is a heartfelt, whimsical book of second chances, with memorable characters and a dash of magical realism. Recommended for readers who enjoy Stephanie Perkins, Fannie Flagg, and Karen Hawkins.—Linsey Milillo

When Juliet Nightingale’s car breaks down in the small town of Forget-Me-Not, Alabama, the townspeople know that she is in need of solace and healing. Juliet is on a road trip through the South, grieving both her grandfather’s death and the loss of her childhood memories as the result of a lightning strike. But Juliet isn’t the only person in need of healing. Tallulah, the mother of two young children, is reeling from an unanticipated divorce, and the two become fast friends. As Juliet settles in to Forget-Me-Not, she finds what’s been missing from her life: the support of a loving, big-hearted community and an unexpected romance. Webber (A Certain Kind of Starlight, 2024) is known for her comforting, magic-tinged Southern fiction, and like the town of Forget-Me-Not, her books are a balm for weary souls. Full of friendship, romance, lighthearted humor, and a magical library cat, this charming story will appeal to readers of uplifting magical realism, such as We’ll Prescribe You a Cat (2024), by Syou Ishida.
