CRDL storytimes are designed to help develop early literacy skills in children. Early literacy is what children know and learn about reading before they can read or write. Research shows that children get ready to read years before they start school. Storytimes will help you and your child communicate better by developing their ability to describe things and events and tell stories.

During storytimes, we use the stages in learning vocabulary, as designed by Every Child Ready to Read, as a framework to put together a series of stories, music, and activities designed to develop these particular skills. We also make it a priority to give parents and caregivers ideas on how to work on developing these skills at home.
