A representative of the Social Security Administration will present information on Social Security and Medicare. To get the most out of this presentation, please prepare:

1. Write down and bring your questions about Social Security or Medicare eligibility and enrollment.

2. Create a my Social Security account so you can review your Social Security Statement. You can sign in or create an account at www.socialsecurity.gov/myaccount.

• How FICA helps to fund Social Security and Medicare
• About the “three-legged stool” of retirement
• How to qualify for retirement benefits, and how those benefits are calculated
• To determine the best age to retire
• To estimate benefits for your chosen start time
• Which benefits are subject to taxation
• Other benefits: Auxiliary, children, disability, survivor
• The future of Social Security
• Online retirement planning tools
• What to bring with you to the Social Security office in Ottumwa
