The Mustang (2019)

The Mustang is a 2019 film drama about Roman Coleman (played by Matthias Schoenaerts), a violent convict in a rural Nevada prison who struggles to escape his past. Roman rediscovers his own humanity through a social rehabilitation program that uses inmates to train wild horses. Roman gets paired with an especially unbreakable mustang named Marcus--and must learn to gentle his spirited horse. During the program, Roman is helped by a no-nonsense veteran trainer (Bruce Dern) and an outgoing fellow inmate and trick rider (Jason Mitchell). Roman's journey with the horse Marcus, challenges him to be a better person and helps to reconcile and heal his past, improving his life on multiple layers.

The Mustang is based on an actual rehabilitation program in Carson City, Nevada.
