HISTORY READERS CIRCLE
Library staff are accepting registrations now for a new monthly history readers' circle beginning today. Space will be limited to 12 participants per month.
Fairfield resident John Beghtol, who taught history at the Centerville High School for 10 years, will facilitate the group discussions. Mr. Beghtol received the Iowa Teacher of the Year Award in 1971, and ranked fifth as a contender for National Teacher of the Year. His passion for history and love of reading inspired this program.
Those who pre-register will gather in the library’s Conference Room, and light refreshments will be served. Bring whatever history book you are reading (even if you’re in the middle of the book) and enjoy a spirited dialog. In a readers’ circle, conversation inevitably covers the books brought plus other topics, so everyone walks away with inspiration for further reading.
Books about local, national, and international history are welcome. There is no charge for this program. Register to attend by calling the front desk at 641-472-6551 ext. 2.
