- CANCELLED - HISTORY ROUNDTABLE
History buffs, here’s your chance to share your favorite books with like-minded readers! Whether your interest is in local, state, national, or international history, the library’s History Roundtable is a go-to place for connecting with others and exploring diverse perspectives.
Fairfield resident John Beghtol, who taught history at the Centerville High School for 10 years, facilitates the discussions in the Conference Room. Mr. Beghtol received the Iowa Teacher of the Year Award in 1971, and ranked fifth as a contender for National Teacher of the Year. His passion for history and love of reading inspired this program.
Please register early, whether you've attended previous sessions, or whether this will be your first one. The Conference Room can accommodate 12 people. During the cold winter months, a fireplace DVD contributes to a warm ambience!
Bring whatever history book you are currently reading (even if you’re in the middle of a book) and enjoy a spirited dialog. In a readers’ circle, conversation inevitably covers the books brought plus other topics, so everyone walks away with inspiration for further reading. Here are examples from last month’s roundtable: Hymns of the Republic, The Bunker, War & Weddings, and Spying on the South.
There is no charge for this program.
