MATINEE BOOK CLUB
This month's thought-provoking fiction selection is The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom. To register for this book club meeting, please call the library’s front desk at 472-6551 x2. As of March 17, the library has one interlibrary loan copy of the book remaining at a lending cost of only $2.00.
One morning in the small town of Coldwater, Michigan, the phones start ringing. The voices say they are calling from heaven. Is it the greatest miracle ever? Or some cruel hoax? As news of these strange calls spreads, outsiders flock to Coldwater to be a part of it.
Moving seamlessly between the invention of the telephone in 1876 and a world obsessed with the next level of communication, Mitch Albom takes readers on a breathtaking ride of frenzied hope.
Thanks to new equipment, the library now offers a hybrid approach to book club hosting. Participants have three options:
1. 12 people attend in person, or
2. 12 people attend via Zoom, or
3. Up to 8 people attend in person while the rest attend via Zoom. Audio and video are enabled in both directions.
Please note that the Meeting Room has its own separate air handler, and we have installed an Austin Air purifier in the room. The room is large enough to accommodate 12 socially distanced people. Masks will be required and hand sanitizer will be provided.
Zoom info TBA
