Can I donate books and materials to the library?

The library accepts donations from the community, on behalf of Hendersonville Library Friends.

The following items are gratefully accepted as long as no restriction is placed upon their use: books (hardcover and paperback), videos (DVD and Blueray), audio books and music cds.  We are unable to accept VHS or cassette tapes, Dictionaries, Thesauruses, Encyclopedias, textbooks, medical books or magazines over a year old.

Donated items will be placed in the library collection as needed, used in the Hendersonville Library Friends book sale, or discarded.

The Friends of the Library gladly accepts monetary donations for specific purchases for the library.  Please see their website for contact information by clicking here hendersonvillelibraryfriends.org/

What can I do online in My Account?

The Hendersonville Public Library is pleased to offer our patrons the ability to manage their own account through our website. You can view the items you currently have checked out, request a renewal, and view the status of your requested holds. You can search the catalog, create lists, save searches and place holds on items in the catalog.
Click My Account under the Home button. In the Library ID field, type the information off the back of your library card. Note the letters HPL or MCUH must be capitalized. Be sure to type zeros for the number zero and not use the letter O.
The PIN will be the last four numbers of the phone number we have on your account or the last four digits of your library card, if you have not changed it.
Once you have your library ID and PIN, you can create an EZ Log On. This should be a username and password that will be simple for you to remember. We do not have access to your information so if you forget it you will need to log on with your library card and PIN to change it.
On the Account Summary page for your library account, you can view the status of items checked out and the dates they are due. You can also renew your items (if they are renewable). Items cannot be renewed if they are on reserve for another person.  You can view the status of your requests and suspend or cancel your requests. The fines tab shows you any fines on your account.
You can minimize the account summary information by clicking on the X in the tab to return to the search screen. This will bring you to the catalog. While logged in to your account you can search the catalog, place a request, save searches and create and edit your lists.

Can I request items be held for me?

You may request certain items through our online catalog. No one may have more than five active requests at one time.

You will be notified via email or phone when the item is available for pick up.  Please wait until you receive your notification before coming to the library for materials.

The following items are not eligible for reservation:

·         Items from reference collections

·         Other restrictions may apply

If an item is already checked out, you will be entered in the waiting list for the item. You will be notified via email or phone when the item is available for pick up.  We will hold the item for up to one week.

You may request an item for pick up even if it is currently available in the library.  You will be notified via email or phone when the item is available for pick up. We will hold the item for up to one week.

Some restrictions apply:

·         We do not guarantee a specific turnaround time between request and pick-up availability. We strive to complete all requests within two library business days (excluding holidays and breaks).

·         In-person library users have priority; you will be entered on the waiting list for the item if it is checked out before your request is processed.
