The Friends of The Robert J. Kleberg Public Library was established in 1987 as fund-raising organization to provide support for library collections and operations. The library serves the entire city and county of 35,000 residents. The Friends provide funds for books and special programs year round. With funds from their membership dues, bookstore, donations, and grant awards, they have been able to fund many special programs for the public library.
