New Books: The "New Books" display area of the Robert J. Kleberg Public Library offers readers a chance to explore and find personal enrichment and knowledge with a wide-ranging assortment of interesting books. Here you will find some the library’s most recent acquisitions of bestselling books both fiction and non-fiction. The bestsellers are chosen primarily from the New York Times list. The Library will still acquire highly regarded contemporary fiction and non-fiction that does not reach bestseller status, but these books will be shelved in the general collection. The new books circulate on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Placing a Hold: You may place a "Hold" on a new book that is currently checked-out for a nominal reservation fee of 25 cents. If the book is no longer on the New Book Shelf, please search our [ card catalog ] for location and availability. When you place a "Hold" for a new book at the [ Circulation Services ] desk, your name is added to a list with others who are waiting for that same book title. The order of the list follows the sequence in which the holds were placed. When it is your turn to receive the book, the Circulation Librarian will notify you by phone and "Hold" the reserved item for up to four days to give you time to pick it up.
Where are the new books? The new books are near the Circulation Desk and are displayed on stand-alone shelves in the mid-section of the main library. All new books are displayed in call number order. All regular circulating books on the New Book Shelf are available for immediate checkout. If the library doesn't own a book you are looking for, you might be able to borrow it from another Texas library through the [ Inter-library Loan ] program.
Recently returned books: A "Recently Returned Book" area has been set up near the Circulation Desk to enable a faster turnaround of returned items to users. Books from the general collection, audio-visual materials, and periodicals returned to the Circulation Desk will be sorted and transferred to this area first before they are shelved back to their proper locations. If you are looking for recently returned books or other library items, please check with the Circulation Librarian as well as the designated shelves.
Visitors: The Kleberg Public Library welcomes individuals who have personal research needs, and offers on-shelf collections for browsing, reading, and photocopying. Vistors are welcome to come to the library and browse the collections during regular business hours.
