August 2026 Northwood Public Library News

We’d like to give a big thank you to all our sponsors who helped make our Summer Reading Party a success! And of course, all our little readers in Northwood who had so much fun with the Summer Reading Program! Now that it is completed, school is just around the corner.

We will have a back-to-school story time on Friday August 14 from 10:00-11:00. Then when school starts, we’ll jump back into our regular Preschool Story Time on Friday mornings at 10:00am, starting with August 28th. Preschool Story Time is geared for toddler and preschool age, but babies are welcome too! It’s a fun time for kids to socialize together, learn about sitting quietly for a short story or two, have some fun coloring and playing with the library toys. Parents and caregivers can enjoy some chit chat too!

The library has two different book clubs that participate in a monthly reading and discussion. If this is anything that sounds interesting to you, don’t hesitate to reach out at the library for more information!

Here are new books coming to the library sometime during the month of August:
Adult Fiction books: “You’ll Be Sorry” by Lisa Gardner, “The Woman in White” by Sarah Pekkanen, “The Amateur” by Chris Bohjalian, “The Secrets We Hide” by Karin Slaughter, “Delusional” by James Patterson, “Promise Me Never” by Liv Constantine, “God’s Country” by William Kent Krueger, “Brain Damage” by Freida McFadden, and lots more.
Large Print Fiction: “The True Meaning of Love” by Danielle Steel, “The Stars Beneath Her” by Mary Ellen Taylor, “Follow the Stars Home” by Diane C. McPhail, “The Unexpected Caller” by Shelley Shepard Gray, and more.

I’ve been posting some pictures of the new books to the Northwood Public Library’s Facebook page, so don’t forget to “Like” the page to be notified when we put more new books out throughout the month. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you might have by emailing us at librarian@northwoodia.org or call us at 324-1340. We hope you will check us out soon!
