The Library, online
Did you know that the E Allen Gordon Library offers over 200,000 ebooks online that can be accessed from anywhere? Well, it does!

The library’s collection is not just limited to items found within the building. In fact, the library’s online collection is four times larger than the print collection. Every service that the library offers on-campus can also be utilized online.

eBook Library — 200,000 items wherever you are!
The eBook library can be accessed by clicking on the links available here: https://uaccm.libguides.com/eBooks

If you are off-campus, simply log-in with your UACCM username and password. A tutorial video is included to help you understand how to search, cite and access eBooks online.

Streaming Media — Think Netflix for Class
Much like the eBook collection, our online streaming media (films, lectures, tutorials) collection includes over 60,000 educational films created by reputable agencies or institutions of higher education.

Access the collection online here: https://uaccm.libguides.com/az.php and click on Academic Video Online. Log in with your UACCM user ID and password to begin browsing.

Research Databases — Hundreds of thousands of research articles at your fingertips
Have a research paper due and need scholarly peer-reviewed sources or reference materials?

Gordon Library offers 38 databases that each provide access to hundreds of thousands of articles, dissertations, studies and other research resources. Access an alphabetized list that includes descriptions of what topics are covered in the databases here: https://uaccm.libguides.com/az.php

Research Guides — Custom resource lists for your courses
If you’ve ever met with a Librarian for assistance with your research, you know how helpful it can be to have an expert recommend resources specific to your assignment or course. This service is available online, too! Research Guides are created considering the objectives of your course, and the requirements of your assignments. Our Research Guides, or libguides, are available online through the Academic Commons website. Your instructor may have even linked one through your Blackboard course page!

Guides are organized by topic, course, or assignment type. Need assistance with MLA formatting? We’ve got a guide! Need assistance with finding resources on Child Development? There’s a guide! Need help understanding formulas in your physical science course? Guess what. There’s a guide!

ACADEMIC COMMONS ANNOUNCES CONTACT-FREE ITEM PICKUP AND RETURN

For members of our campus community that prefer contact free services, the Academic Commons now offers Contact-Free Item Pick-Up service.  The service is available to UACCM Students, Staff, and Faculty. This service allows members of the campus community with a current UACCM ID and Account to request items within the library’s collection and reserve them.  Students, Faculty, and Staff may access the library collection online by visiting the Academic Commons website and logging into the library catalog with their UACCM ID and Password.

The user may search the catalog for an item and reserve the item by clicking “Place a Hold.” Once a user places the selected item on Hold, Academic Commons staff will be notified of the request through our automated system and hold the item for the user for 3 business days.

When the user is ready to pick up the item, they may call the Academic Commons service desk at (501) 977-2092 with their first and last name. For security and privacy purposes, students will be asked to confirm the last 4 digits of their student ID.  Staff will then check-out the item to the user and place it in a numbered pickup corral at the entrance to the Academic Commons.  Users may then retrieve the item from their designated pickup corral. For Contact-Free Return Service, users may utilize the book return box that is located outside of the Academic Commons.  The return box is checked throughout the day, however, users needing to immediately return an item to remove an account hold should return the item inside and notify a staff member.

Users that are unable to log in to their library account online may contact the Academic Commons service desk at (501) 977-2092 or, if they know their username, use the link on the log-in screen to reset their password.

When picking up items, users are expected to adhere to campus guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.  Users should allow 30 minutes from the time of reservation before arriving to pick up an item.  Contact Free pickup service is available from 8 AM until 4:15 PM.  After 4:15 PM users may pick up reserved items inside the Academic Commons from the service desk.
