History

The Clarion County Library System (CCLS), was established in 1961, and consists of five (5) independent public libraries, serving the needs of Clarion County residents. The Clarion County Library System (CCLS) includes Clarion Free Library, Eccles-Lesher Memorial Library in Rimersburg, Foxburg Free Library, Knox Public Library, and the Redbank Valley Public Library (formerly known as New Bethlehem Area Free Public Library). The County System receives County, State, and Federal funds which are then distributed to the five (5) libraries within the system. It is one of 33 County Library Systems as designated by The Office of Commonwealth Libraries and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The Office of Commonwealth Libraries and the Pennsylvania Department of Education have designated 29 District Library Center across the state. Clarion County Library System (CCLS) is a member of the Oil Creek District Library Center which serves Clarion, Jefferson, and Venango counties.
