"Character Sketches" is for anyone who likes to sketch, draw, or paint, not just professional artists. All skill levels are welcome. It is part of the library's adult programming though high school aged participants are welcome to attend. Sometimes we even have photographers. There is no "teacher." Just come and practice. One thing we constantly hear from new participants is, "Gee. I wish I could draw like that." The answer from the "seasoned" participants is, "Practice. Practice. Practice."

Though subject to change, the tentative calendar for this year's program on on the right.

Costumes for models are character appropraite. They may range from flowing gowns to loincloths, but models are always draped.

Power came to Claudius unexpectedly after Gaius’s murder on January 24, 41, when he was discovered trembling in the palace by a soldier. The Praetorian Guards, the imperial household troops, made him emperor on January 25. By family tradition and antiquarian inclinations, Claudius was in sympathy with the senatorial aristocracy; but soldiers and courtiers were his real supporters, while freedmen and foreigners had been his friends in the days of neglect.

The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, kicked off the American Revolutionary War (1775-83). Tensions had been building for many years between residents of the 13 American colonies and the British authorities, particularly in Massachusetts. On the night of April 18, 1775, hundreds of British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord in order to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and other riders sounded the alarm, and colonial militiamen began mobilizing to intercept the Redcoat column. A confrontation on the Lexington town green started off the fighting.

Other than herself, the only entity for which that she seems to have a genuine care is her pet raven, Diablo.

McKenna Anderson celebrating prom.

Prom is a tradition that some historians say has been around since the end of the 1800s. But the prom as you know it today gained popularity in the 1940s and 50s. "Prom" actually stands for "promenade," though many students these days may not know that and will simply refer to it as "prom." Junior and senior prom, or JS promenade, is a co-ed dance that has been transformed throughout the decades.
