Storytime
  • Preschool Storytime on Wednesday @ 10:30 am.
  • Good Friday Holiday Closing
  • The Library will be closed on Friday, Apr. 19, and Saturday, Apr. 20 for the Good Friday Holiday. The book drop will be open for the return of books and magazines when the Library is closed. Please do not return videos or DVDs in the book drop over the holidays. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, Apr 23 @ 10 am.

  • Thursday, Apr. 25 from 9 am to 2 pm @ Kirkwood Adams Center. Library staff will be present at this event with information about the Library. Please call the Jo Story Center for Active Adults at (252) 533-2847 and select prompt 5 for information about this event.
  • Teen Book Club
  • Tuesdays, April 30 & May 7 @ 8 am @ Roanoke Rapids Public Library. Teens from grades 9-12 discuss books they are currently reading. New students as well as our current members are welcomed.
  • Library Advisory Committee Meeting
  • Thursday, May 2 @ 6:30 pm Library Advisory Committee Meeting. The public is welcome to attend.
  • Chess Program
  • Friday, May 3, 4 pm - 5:30 pm Chess Program. Play a game of chess and join chess teacher Rachel Kincaid who will give tips on how to play or improve your skills at the game. The program is available to all skill levels. Children 10 or under should have a parent and guardian attend the program with them.
  • Poetry Reading Extravaganza
  • Saturday, May 4 @ 1 pm. Poetry Reading Extravaganza. Kim Hockaday will be reading excerpts from her newly published book. This event is for those who have written poetry and would like to read their work aloud to an audience or for those who simply want to listen. No registration required.
  • Wednesday DVD Frenzy
  • Every Wednesday DVD/VIDEO Frenzy. It's out the R-O-O-F! Rent One One Free. Normal checkout limits and fines apply. Check with the Library Staff for information.
  • Blood Pressure Monitor
  • The Library now has a self-service blood pressure monitor for checking personal blood pressure located by the copier.
  • Wi-Fi Printing
  • Roanoke Rapids Public Library now offers Wi-Fi Printing. You may print up to 25 pages at 40 cents per page. Go to rrpl-bw@printspots.com or rrpl-color@printspots.com. Printouts may be picked up at the Library during operating hours. Patrons have 48 hours from the time they send their print job from their device to have their job available to be printed. The job won't be printed until the patron arrives at the Library. Contact library staff if you have questions.
  • Free Practice Driving Tests for NC Drivers

  • NC Digital and NC KIDS Digital
  • Roanoke Rapids Public Library now has two new digital collections through OverDrive. NC Digital and NC KIDS Digital can be access with a valid Roanoke Rapids library card and a PIN number. Contact or visit the Library for more information.
  • Kindles
  • Roanoke Rapids Public Library now circulates Kindles. Visit or call the Library for more information. The Kindles and e-book loaded on these devices were purchased with a LSTA EZ Technology Grant from the State Library of North Carolina.
  • E-Book Program
  • Roanoke Rapids Public Library now has a collection of e-books for its patrons through NC LIVE. The NC LIVE Homegrown E-book Collection has over 1,200 titles to chose and are provided with the cooperation of varied NC publishers. While these titles are not many of the current best sellers, the Library is hoping eventually to expand our e-books collection. Take a look by clicking the link on the home page in the lower right corner. You must have a RRPL card to access the collection. Contact the Library for more information.
