Library Receives Digitization Grant
The St. Joseph/Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library recently received a grant to help fund the digitization of local history information for the Making of Modern Michigan project. The project aim is to assist libraries from all over Michigan in learning and using technology to contribute to a digital collection about the history and development of Michigan. Our grant will focus on materials relating to Silver Beach - its original uses and its rebirth as a premiere recreation site.
Members of the staff are learning digitization techniques, metadata standards, and copyright compliance. We will have access to equipment and technical assistance from the Western Michigan University Digitization Center.
