About Greenwood Children's Programs

The Children's Room offers many types of programs for children starting at birth and continuing though 5th Grade. We offer a variety of storytimes as well as crafts, STEAM programs, and more.
The Children's Room also offers other services and resources beyond programming to all of Greenwood County's children. Preschool Playtime

Ms. Jody will open up the Story Room for a fun-filled playtime adventure. We will have blocks, Play-Doh, magnetic dolls, a train set, Duplos, and more.

Due to increased attendance at our programs, we are now requiring registration for Creativity Lab.
Monday, June 10: Squishmallow Painting Paint a squishmallow to hang in your room. Squishmallows will be traced onto a canvas for you to paint it whatever colors you want! Monday, June 17: Arrow Ornament Design an arrow ornament using beads, sticks, and feathers. Registration Required: Register online starting June 10 Monday, June 24: Fruit Volcanoes Learn how a chemical reaction between common household goods can turn fruit into a bubbling volcano. Join Ms. Jessica from the Teen Center and Ms. Shalia from the Children's Room for programs geared towards our tweens! We consider tween to include those in upper elementary (4th-5th) and middle school (6th-8th).
Tuesday, June 11: Balloon Twisting Workshop Learn how to make balloon animals with an award-winning balloon twister! You will learn how to make some popular twisted creations to impress your friends and family. Registration Required: Register online starting May 28 Tuesday, June 25: Warrior Cats Party Celebrate one of our most popular middle-grades series—The Warriors by Erin Hunter. Take a quiz to find your clan, craft a cat mask and clan wrist cuff, play Warrior-themed games, and more! Registration Required: Register online starting June 11 Tuesday, July 9: Friendship Bracelets Use our huge supply of beads to create friendship bracelets for you and your friends. Summer Reading Kick Off Party:

About:
Start off the summer with an epic Foam Party on the Library's lawn! Play in the microbubble foam while dancing to music.
Foamtastic Adventures uses highest quality solution for our foam. It’s bio-degradable, non-staining, non-toxic and hypoallergenic! It’s also safe for babies, little old ladies, the environment, and lawns. Depending on the individual enthusiasm level, participants will range from dry to damp to soaking wet (we recommend you bring a towel).
This is program is not just for kids! Foam is the perfect activity for all ages and total inclusiveness. It’s also a perfect sensory-friendly activity. Bad Weather: Foam and rain don’t mix well. If the weather looks like it will not cooperate, the Library will cancel the program and notify patrons on our social media outlets and website. No registration required. |

The Totally Twisted Tale of the Three Little Pigs

Our modern adaptation of this fairy tale favorite puts a new twist on a timeless tale! When Stanley (the cool pig on the block) is encouraged to invite Ralphie (the new sheep on the block) to his backyard camp-out, hilarity and chaos ensues! Will Stanley’s campfire story be enough to scare Ralphie into running home? Or will Ralphie turn the tables on his high-on-the-hog host? Dog Day with the Humane Society of Greenwood County
Monday, August 26: 5:30 - 7:30PM Celebrate with us on National Dog Day, which encourages dog ownership of all breeds. The Human Society will have a variety of dogs available for adoption. In addition, the Library will have a dog-themed storytime, crafts, and a prize giveaway. Register Here |
