Photographer and writer Lloyd (William: The People's Prince) fills this tribute to Elizabeth Taylor with never-before-seen candid photographs, tracing her life from beginning to end. Covering both the professional and the personal aspects of her life, Lloyd captures Taylor's growth as an actress, wife, mother, and philanthropist, and he is ever careful to include those rare moments captured at home. Still, much as in Richard Schickel's Brando: A Life in Our Times, the text is secondary to the images, which may cause those seeking an in-depth account of her life to turn elsewhere. VERDICT Readers- looking for a photographic history and surface account of Taylor's most important relationships will find them here. Those wanting a more thorough account of the violet--eyed beauty will find it in Joseph- Papa's Elizabeth Taylor, A Passion for Life: The Wit and Wisdom of a Legend.-Rochelle LeMaster-, Medina Cty.
