Online Databases

Alabama Mosaic is an online repository of historical documents, news articles, photographs, speeches, sound recordings, etc. The Carl Elliott Regional Library has partnered with libraries across the state to digitize these items and make them available to the public.

The Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) allows patrons to access a large variety of reference sources and databases for research and study. Can be accessed by anyone living in Alabama. If you have trouble accessing the databases, please visit your local library to receive an Alabama Virtual Library Card free of charge.

Camellia Net is our digital library where you can check out and download ebooks, audiobooks and music for use with your smartphone, tablet, ebook reader or mp3 player.

Back by popular demand, Chilton Library is now available throughout Alabama. Chilton is the world’s most comprehensive and trusted automotive repair database with easy-to-follow, step-by-step repair guidance on thousands of cars and trucks from 1940 to the present. Chilton Library is available remotely on all platforms, including mobile devices, so you can use it wherever you are.

A free Driver's Ed program available through the library and Driving-Tests.org. Take DMV practice exams for cars, motorcycles, and CDL licenses in Alabama.

Gale LegalForms offers free legal documents that can be filled out online and downloaded or printed for use in Alabama.

Homework Alabama offers FREE online tutoring and academic resources from Tutor.com for Alabama residents from kindergarten students through college, plus adult learners. Get help in math, science, English, social studies and writing from a live tutor.
Tutors are available 10 a.m. - 11 p.m., seven days a week. The Job Search Assistance for adults is available 10 a.m. - 10 p.m, seven days a week. The Tutor.com SkillsCenter Resource Library is available 24/7. The services can be accessed from any Alabama public library, from your home computer or from your mobile device.

Basic skills, college preparatory, civil service, GED, and some specific careers also available.  Requires a CERL library card available at public libraries in Walker and Winston counties. NewsBank gives you access to the Daily Mountain Eagle archives from October 1996 to today's edition. The World News update now gives us access to the Birmingham News from 1992 to present! It's searchable by name, subject, writer, headline, and more! Access it using your CERL library card number on the back of your card.
