Somewhat capriciously organized, informative double-page spreads cover ocean-related topics, ranging from tides to mining the sea. The principal illustrations--careful, bright cutaway drawings, along with other art--are generally effective, but the mixture of choppy sentences in the introductions, sophisticated labels, and crowded pages requires fairly studious decoding.
