PreS-Gr 3-Based on the children's books by Marc Brown featuring Arthur the aardvark, these episodes showcase the many ways music plays a role in everyday life. Each story centers on a music-related theme ranging, from Arthur dealing with his retiring music teacher being replaced by a famous musician to Buster's distress after eating all of the candy he was to sell as a band fundraiser to a battle between classical musician Yo-Yo Ma and jazz saxophonist Joshua Redman at the library. Issues related to performances and stage fright also take center-stage in several episodes. The cheerful, simple animation combined with dilemmas patterned on real-life situations make this a sure bet for Arthur fans and libraries.-Cathie Bashaw Morton, Millbrook Central School District, NY (c) Copyright 2012.
