Outreach

Through outreach programs, the library endeavors to address a growing need in the community of eliminating the barriers that prohibit specific groups' abilities to access traditional library services during regular business hours. We bring library services to patrons who are home bound, in nursing homes and senior centers, and to community events such as the Green Market, Blooming on the Bricks, and the Natchitoches Parish Fair.

Databases and Technology

The library offers Chromebook laptops and wifi hotspots for check out, as well as offering desktop computers for patrons to use in-house. Free WiFi is available 24/7 at both library locations.  Our online database collection includes educational materials for all ages, genealogy access, English as a Second Language online classes, and more.

Summer Reading Program

The annual Adult Summer Reading Program offers adults the opportunity to interact with other patrons, explore new interests, try new literary genres, and have fun!  The library’s goals are to support the reading needs of the whole community through family participation and outreach. Just like with children and teens, adults are encouraged to read, write book review, participate in programs, and earn prizes!

Programming

The library offers a variety of adult programming focused on community interests, educational topics, and entertainment. Programs and events have included crafts, lectures, panel discussions, family events, book signings, and others. We welcome input from our patrons and are actively searching for community members who would like to teach a craft, showcase their talent, or offer a service to our area patrons.

If you have a special skill or talent you are willing to share, please contact Martha Uchino, Adult Programmer, at (318) 238-9246.

Genealogy
